Set up a white-label WhatsApp panel on your own domain: DNS, SSL and branding

A hands-on guide to running a white-label WhatsApp panel on your own domain: the DNS record, automatic SSL, branding, email sender and the errors partners hit most often.

In short

To run a white-label WhatsApp panel on your own domain, use a subdomain such as app.yourbrand.in, enter it in Panel Customization → Brand Settings → URL Manager, and add the CNAME record the page shows at your DNS provider (DNS only, no proxy). The SSL certificate is issued automatically once the record is found. Then finish branding, the email sender and the sign-in page so clients never see anyone's name but yours.

Key takeaways

  • Use a subdomain (app.yourbrand.in), not your root domain: a CNAME on a subdomain works at every DNS provider.
  • If you use Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only (grey cloud); a proxied record points at Cloudflare, not the panel server.
  • Remove any AAAA (IPv6) record on the same name, or the domain check fails.
  • SSL is issued automatically; the status moves from Pending DNS to Issuing certificate to Active.
  • The domain is only half the job: logos, sign-in page, email sender and legal links complete the white label.

Put your white-label WhatsApp panel on your own domain

Time needed: 1 h. You will need: Your Broadchat partner panel, Login to your domain's DNS provider (GoDaddy, Hostinger, Cloudflare or similar).

  1. Choose the address

Pick a short subdomain on a domain you control, such as app.yourbrand.in for clients and, if you want, partners.yourbrand.in for your own staff. Avoid the root domain.

  2. Enter it in URL Manager

Open Panel Customization → Brand Settings → URL Manager, enter the full address with https:// in Main Panel URL, note the CNAME target shown, and click Verify & Update.

  3. Add the CNAME record

At your DNS provider, create a CNAME record with the subdomain as the name and the target from URL Manager as the value. On Cloudflare set it to DNS only. Remove any A or AAAA record on the same name.

  4. Wait for SSL and check the status

When the record is found, the status changes to Issuing certificate and then Active. The panel keeps checking every 10 minutes; use Check again after you fix a record.

  5. Brand the panel and sign-in page

In Brand Settings and Appearance, set the panel name, logos, favicon, colours, sign-in page and legal links. Hide or rename menu items in Product Manager and Custom Menu.

  6. Send emails from your domain

In Panel Customization → Communication → Channel, add your SMTP server and send a test email, then review the email templates and alerts.

  7. Test as a client and share your links

Open the customer sign-up link from Your links in a private window, create a test account, and check every screen and email for your brand before you share the link.

Before you start

A white-label WhatsApp panel on your own domain means your clients sign in at an address like app.yourbrand.in, see your logo, and receive emails from your address. On Broadchat every partner gets a ready panel address on a neutral subdomain from day one, so you can sell before the domain is ready. Connecting your own domain is available on the Growth and Enterprise partner tiers (see pricing).

You need three things: access to your partner panel, a login to the DNS provider where your domain is managed (often the registrar, such as GoDaddy or Hostinger, or Cloudflare if you moved DNS there), and your brand files. Plan about an hour; most of it is DNS waiting time.

Step 1: choose the address

Use a subdomain, not the root domain:

OptionExampleVerdict
Subdomain of your agency domainapp.yourbrand.inRecommended. A CNAME works everywhere and your website stays untouched
Separate product domainapp.chatbrand.inGood if you sell WhatsApp under its own product name
Root domainyourbrand.inAvoid. Most DNS providers do not allow a CNAME at the root, and your website already lives there

The panel has a second address field, Partner Panel URL, for the panel you and your staff use (for example partners.yourbrand.in). It is optional; clients never see it.

Step 2: enter it in URL Manager

  1. In the partner panel, open Panel Customization → Brand Settings → URL Manager.
  2. On the Main Panel URL tab, enter the address with the scheme: https://app.yourbrand.in.
  3. Note the CNAME target shown on the page. You will paste it at your DNS provider.
  4. Click Verify & Update. The status shows Pending DNS until the record exists.

At the top of the same page, Your links shows the exact customer login and sign-up links. While no domain is connected they use your ready subdomain; once your domain is active they switch to it, and the old subdomain keeps working so no existing link breaks.

Step 3: add the CNAME record

At your DNS provider, add one record:

FieldWhat to enter
TypeCNAME
Name / Hostapp (just the subdomain part; some providers want app.yourbrand.in)
Value / Target / Points toThe CNAME target shown in URL Manager
TTLAutomatic or 1 hour
Proxy (Cloudflare only)DNS only (grey cloud)

Three things break this step more than anything else:

  • Cloudflare proxy. An orange-cloud record makes the name resolve to Cloudflare's addresses, so the check fails with a message that the domain points somewhere else. Switch it to DNS only.
  • Leftover records. If app.yourbrand.in already has an A record (from an old site builder) or an AAAA (IPv6) record, delete them. The check rejects an IPv6 address that is not the panel server.
  • Typos in the name. Entering app.yourbrand.in in a field that already appends the domain creates app.yourbrand.in.yourbrand.in. Check the record list after saving.

Step 4: wait for SSL and check the status

You do not buy or upload a certificate. When the record resolves to the panel server, the status changes to Issuing certificate and a free certificate is issued automatically, usually in under a minute. Then the status shows Active and https://app.yourbrand.in opens your panel.

The panel retries domains that are still pending every 10 minutes, so you can fix DNS and walk away. To check immediately, click Check again. If the status shows an error, the message under it says what is wrong, for example that the name does not resolve yet or points to a different address.

Step 5: brand the panel and sign-in page

A custom domain with someone else's logo is not a white label. Work through these screens in order:

  1. Panel Customization → Brand Settings → Branding: panel name, logos for light and dark themes, an icon, favicon, default language and currency, terms and privacy links, and whether clients may sign up on their own. Turn sign-up off if you prefer to create every account yourself.
  2. Panel Customization → Appearance: Themes for colours, background and the sign-in page design; Custom Layouts; Custom CSS for small touches; Custom Menu to add your own links, such as a help centre or a WhatsApp support number.
  3. Panel Customization → Product Manager: choose which modules clients see, rename and reorder them. Hiding modules you do not sell keeps the panel simple.
  4. Settings → Translation Manager: if you sell in Hindi or another Indian language, enable it and adjust any wording.

The customer panel is brand-neutral by design: on your domain it shows your name and links, not Broadchat's.

Step 6: send emails from your domain

Welcome emails, verification links, password resets and low-balance alerts go to every client. Send them from your own address:

  1. Panel Customization → Communication → Channel: add your SMTP host, port, username, password, sender name and reply-to address, then send a test email.
  2. Communication → Templates: edit subjects and bodies; variables such as {{first_name}} are filled in for each client.
  3. Communication → Alerts: choose which event sends which template, to the client or to you.
  4. Communication → Logs: see every email sent and retry failed ones.

Use a mailbox on the same domain as your panel (for example support@yourbrand.in) and make sure the domain has the SPF and DKIM records your email provider asks for; otherwise welcome emails tend to land in spam.

Step 7: test as a client and share your links

Copy the Customer sign-up link from Your links, open it in a private browser window and create a test account. Check the browser tab icon, the sign-in page, the welcome email, the plan picker and the dashboard for anything that is not your brand. Then share the links in your proposals, WhatsApp signature and website menu.

After launch

Once the domain is active, put it everywhere a client might look: your proposal template, invoices, the link in your Instagram bio and the custom menu inside the panel. Then turn to the commercial setup: plans, wallets and margins, covered in WhatsApp API reseller pricing models, and the first client, covered in onboarding your first client. Frequently asked questions

Can I use my root domain for the white-label panel?

It is not recommended. Most DNS providers do not allow a CNAME record on the root domain, and your website usually lives there. Use a subdomain such as app.yourbrand.in.

Do I need to buy an SSL certificate?

No. Once the CNAME record resolves to the panel server, a free certificate is issued and renewed automatically. The status in URL Manager changes from Pending DNS to Issuing certificate to Active.

Why does URL Manager say my domain points to another address?

Usually because the record is proxied through Cloudflare (orange cloud) or an old A record still exists on the same name. Set the record to DNS only and delete the extra A record, then click Check again.

Will my existing client links break when I connect a domain?

No. Your ready subdomain keeps working after your own domain is active, so links you already shared still open your panel.

Can my staff use a branded address too?

Yes. Enter a second address such as partners.yourbrand.in in the Partner Panel URL field and add its CNAME record the same way.
