WhatsApp API providers in Malaysia compared: pricing models, Meta fees and white-label options

An honest side-by-side of WhatsApp API options a Malaysian business or reseller is likely to shortlist: how each charges, whether Meta's fees are marked up, trials, and who each one suits best.

By Broadchat teamPublished 6 min read

In short

Malaysian WhatsApp API providers charge in three ways: a monthly subscription with Meta's fees at cost (ForwardChat, respond.io), a subscription plus a per-number hosting fee and per-message rates (SleekFlow), or a bundled per-message price with no monthly fee (iWSapp). Broadchat is different again: it is sold through partners who brand it and set the price. If you want Meta to bill you directly with no markup, ForwardChat or respond.io fit better; if you want to resell WhatsApp under your own brand, Broadchat is built for that.

Key takeaways

  • ForwardChat lists plans from RM299 a month and says Meta bills you directly at published rates with zero markup.
  • SleekFlow's pricing page lists plans from US$49 a month and charges WhatsApp API hosting of US$15 a month plus per-message rates.
  • respond.io lists plans from US$79 a month billed yearly and says WhatsApp fees are not included in any subscription.
  • iWSapp (Mobiweb Sdn Bhd) states no setup fee and no monthly fee, with a bundled price per message.
  • Broadchat publishes no end-customer price: partners set plan prices and messaging rates, and partner costs are quoted on request.

How to read this comparison

We checked each provider's own website on 1 November 2026 and quote only what it publishes. Where a site did not state something, the table says 'Not stated'. Some sites show prices by visitor location, and we checked from outside Malaysia, so open the linked page before you decide. We do not quote other providers' per-message rates; compare them yourself against Meta's rates for Malaysia.

ForwardChat

ForwardChat publishes flat RM plans: Starter RM299, Growth RM499 and Pro RM999 a month. Its page explains a 'bring your own WhatsApp Business account' model in which the WhatsApp account sits in your own Meta business portfolio and Meta bills you directly, which it contrasts with resellers who mark up Meta fees. It lists a 7-day free trial with no card, and a one-time AI setup fee of RM1,000 on monthly Starter and Growth plans (free on quarterly, annual or Pro).

Best for: a Malaysian SME that wants a local vendor, RM pricing and Meta's invoice in its own name.

SleekFlow

SleekFlow's pricing page lists Essential at US$49 a month, Pro at US$109 and Premium at US$279 (each 20% less billed yearly), with monthly active contacts and user seats per plan. Channel fees are separate: the WhatsApp API is listed at US$15 a month for hosting plus per-message rates from SleekFlow's own rate card. It offers a 7-day Pro trial without a card.

Best for: teams that want one omnichannel inbox with AI agents and are comfortable with USD pricing that scales with active contacts.

respond.io

respond.io lists Starter at US$79 a month billed yearly (US$99 monthly), Growth at US$159 (US$199) and Advanced at US$279 (US$349), with monthly active contacts and per-user add-ons. Its page says WhatsApp fees are not included in any subscription and are charged by Meta based on usage. It offers a 7-day trial without a card.

Best for: teams that are happy with USD plans priced by users and monthly active contacts, and want Meta's fees kept separate from the subscription.

iWSapp

iWSapp is run by Mobiweb Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian company, and describes itself as an authorised WhatsApp Business API provider. Its homepage says there is no setup fee and no monthly fee; instead it publishes a price per message by category for Malaysian numbers that includes Meta's charge. Compare its per-category prices with Meta's rate card to see the markup.

Best for: low-volume senders who want to pay only per message and do not need a monthly software plan.

Broadchat

Broadchat is a white-label platform on the official Cloud API, sold through partners such as hosting companies and agencies, who set their own plan prices and messaging rates. A business gets campaigns, a shared inbox, a visual chatbot builder, CRM and Shopify or WooCommerce connections; a partner gets branding, its own domain, RM plans, its own payment collection and weekly messaging margin settlement. Partner costs are per client account and quoted on request, so we cannot show a public RM price.

Where Broadchat is weaker: there is no public end-customer price list, the panel has no Bahasa Malaysia translation yet, built-in WhatsApp payment collection is not available in Malaysia, and messaging is prepaid through a wallet rather than billed by Meta in your own name. If those matter most, one of the options above may suit you better.

Best for: agencies, web hosts and resellers who want to sell WhatsApp under their own brand, and the businesses they serve. See the white-label WhatsApp API for Malaysia.

How to choose

  1. Decide who should get Meta's invoice. If you want Meta to bill you directly, shortlist providers that say so. If you prefer one invoice from one supplier, a wallet model is simpler.
  2. Price your real month. Take your expected utility, marketing and service messages, price them at Meta's Malaysian rates, then add each provider's plan or markup.
  3. Count seats and contacts. Plans priced by users or monthly active contacts get expensive for busy inboxes; per-account plans do not.
  4. Check the trial on a real number and get one utility and one marketing template approved before you commit.
  5. Ask about language and support hours. Malaysian customers write in Malay, English, Chinese and Tamil; make sure templates and the chatbot cover the ones you need.

Whatever you pick, it should connect numbers through Meta's Embedded Signup on the Cloud API; anything that asks you to scan a WhatsApp Web QR code is not the official API. The basics are on WhatsApp Business API in Malaysia.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the cheapest WhatsApp API provider in Malaysia?

It depends on your volume. A per-message provider with no monthly fee costs least at very low volume; a flat RM subscription with Meta at cost usually wins once you send thousands of messages a month. Price your own month at Meta's rates plus each provider's fee before deciding.

Do Malaysian providers mark up Meta's fees?

Some do and some do not. ForwardChat and respond.io say Meta's fees are not marked up or not included in their plans; bundled per-message providers include their margin in the price. On Broadchat, the partner sets the messaging rate over Meta's base rate.

Can I switch providers without losing my number?

Usually yes. Your WhatsApp account and number belong to your Meta business portfolio, and the new provider is given access to it. Approved templates and the display name stay with the account. Plan the switch outside a campaign week.

Are these providers all official WhatsApp API?

All five connect to Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform, according to their own sites. A tool that works by scanning a WhatsApp Web QR code is not the official API and risks a ban.
