Before you submit these templates
- Submit price lists, catalogues and daily rates as Marketing. They invite new orders, which is marketing in Meta's categorisation guide.
- Submit quotations, repair estimates and plan price changes as Utility only when they relate to the customer's own request, job or account and contain no other offers.
- Upload a real PDF or image as the header sample, with readable prices; reviewers reject blurry or empty media more often.
- Put long rate lists in a variable only when they are short; for anything over ten items use a document header instead of the body.
- Prices for restricted goods (alcohol, tobacco, prescription medicines) are not allowed under Meta's Commerce Policy.
- Do not end the body with a variable; close with how to order, for example "Reply with item names and quantities."
- Name templates by purpose (pricelist_repair_estimate) because names cannot be changed later.
The short answer
A useful price list message for customers gives the prices (as a PDF, an image or a few lines of text), says whether GST is included, states until when the rates are valid and tells the customer exactly how to order. If someone has just asked "rate kya hai?", reply with the prices in a normal chat message; a template is only needed when you send prices to people who have not messaged you in the last 24 hours.

Price lists are marketing; quotes and estimates can be utility
Meta's categorisation guide treats messages that promote products or invite a new purchase as marketing, and allows utility only for messages specific to a transaction or account the customer already has. In practice:

Meta has the final say and can recategorise templates, so keep quotes and estimates free of other offers. Marketing templates need opt-in, are charged at the marketing rate (see WhatsApp API pricing) and are subject to WhatsApp's per-user marketing limits.

- Always say "incl. GST" or "plus GST". Most price arguments on WhatsApp start here.
- Give a validity date. "Valid till 30 Nov" or "today's rate, orders by 1 pm" protects you when costs change.
- State minimums and delivery charges in the same message, not after the order.
- One price list per customer type. Do not send dealer rates to retail customers; build separate segments.
- Do not ask for payment card details in the chat. Send a payment link or UPI ID when the order is confirmed.
How to send these
WhatsApp Business app (free, manual). Answer price questions with the plain texts or saved quick replies, share the PDF directly, or use broadcast lists of up to 256 contacts who saved your number (broadcast list guide).
WhatsApp Business API. In Broadchat:
- Create the price list templates in CRM → WhatsApp Templates with the Marketing category and a document or image header; create quotes, estimates and plan changes as Utility.
- Keep dealers, retailers and end customers in separate groups using CRM → Tags and CRM → Segment.
- Send the monthly list from CRM → Bulk Campaign, uploading the PDF as the header and mapping the validity date. Use Repeat for a list you send every month.
- Send quotes and estimates one at a time from your job or billing system through Automations → Workflow with a Custom Webhook trigger and Send Template Message (V2), and connect APPROVE or YES replies to a flow in Chatbots → Chatbots.

How do I send a price list to customers on WhatsApp?
If the customer messaged you in the last 24 hours, simply reply with the prices or attach the PDF. To send a price list to many customers who have not messaged recently, use an approved marketing template with the PDF or image as the header, and send it only to people who opted in.
Is a price list message a marketing or utility template?
A price list or catalogue sent to your buyers is marketing, because it invites new orders. A quotation for a job the customer requested, a repair estimate or a price change on their existing plan can be utility if it contains nothing else. Meta makes the final decision.
What should a price list message include?
The prices, whether GST is included, the validity date, minimum order quantities, delivery charges and how to order. A short line such as "Reply with item and quantity" turns the price list into orders.
Should I send prices as a PDF or as text?

How do I inform customers about a price increase?

Can I send daily rates to my wholesale buyers on WhatsApp?
Yes, to buyers who asked for them. With the API, daily rate templates are marketing messages, so each delivered one is charged at the marketing rate and buyers must be able to stop them. Many traders send rates only to buyers who ordered in the last month.
