Where a WhatsApp reseller's margin comes from
A white-label WhatsApp reseller usually earns from two places. The calculator keeps them apart so you can see which one carries your business:
- Subscription margin = clients × (your monthly price − your platform cost per client).
- Messaging margin = clients × monthly messaging spend at Meta's rates × your markup %. Meta's share passes straight through; only the markup is yours.
Gross margin is the sum of both. Subtract your fixed monthly costs (support staff, ads, software) for the net figure, and divide those fixed costs by the margin per client to see how many clients you need to break even.
Worked example (illustrative numbers)
Meera runs a small digital agency in Indore. She has 20 clients on a ₹2,999 monthly plan and pays ₹1,200 per client to her platform. Each client spends about ₹2,000 a month on messages at Meta's rates, and she adds a 15% markup.
| Subscription margin | 20 × (₹2,999 − ₹1,200) = ₹35,980 |
|---|---|
| Messaging margin | 20 × ₹2,000 × 15% = ₹6,000 |
| Gross margin | ₹41,980 a month, ₹5,03,760 a year |
| After ₹15,000 fixed costs | ₹26,980 a month |
| Break-even | 8 clients (₹15,000 ÷ ₹2,099 per client, rounded up) |
Here the plan carries about 86% of the margin. Agencies that depend mostly on messaging markup feel every quarterly change in Meta's rates and every quiet month a client has, while a plan fee arrives regardless of volume.
How to use the numbers
- Price on value, not on cost. Setup, template writing, chatbot flows and fast support are what clients pay an agency for. Bundle them into tiers rather than discounting the plan.
- Test a lower client count. Run the calculator at half your target clients. If the net line is negative, cut fixed costs or raise the plan price before you hire.
- Keep messaging prepaid. Clients recharging a wallet before they send protects you from unpaid Meta bills.
- Watch Meta's rates. They change only on 1 Jan, 1 Apr, 1 Jul and 1 Oct; check the pricing calculator when they do.
- Plan for GST. Your prices to clients are usually quoted plus GST; see GST invoicing for resellers.
How this maps to Broadchat
In the Broadchat partner panel you create your own plans and add-ons with your prices, and set a messaging markup (a percentage or a flat amount) over Meta's base rate per country and category. Your messaging margin is settled weekly into your main wallet. The platform cost per client account comes from your partner quote; see pricing for how it works and the partner program for what you can brand. New to reselling?
