Definition
Meta Verified: Meta Verified for Business is a paid subscription from Meta that gives eligible businesses a verified badge and related account protections on Meta apps, including WhatsApp in some markets such as India. It is separate from free business verification of a business portfolio and from the Official Business Account badge on API numbers. Price, eligibility and features vary by market and are set by Meta.
Also called: Meta Verified badge, Meta Verified subscription
How Meta Verified for Business works
Meta Verified is a subscription. A business that is eligible in its market pays Meta, completes Meta's identity checks and, if accepted, gets a verified badge plus extra account features. It is aimed largely at businesses on the WhatsApp Business app, Facebook and Instagram. Meta sets the price, the eligibility rules and the feature list per market, and has changed them over time.
We do not quote a price on this page. The figures that circulate online come from secondary sources, not from a Meta page we could confirm. Check the current offer inside your own Meta apps before deciding.
Three things people confuse
| Business verification | Official Business Account | Meta Verified | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Meta confirms your company's identity for a business portfolio | A blue badge on one API phone number | A paid subscription with a badge |
| Cost | Free | Free to apply | Paid, set by Meta |
| Where you start | Business settings of the portfolio | Request per number after meeting requirements | Inside eligible Meta apps |
| Affects messaging limit? | Yes, it is one path to 2,000 | No | Not stated by Meta for the API |
Worked example
Priya runs a small boutique in Lucknow on the WhatsApp Business app. She sees an offer to subscribe to Meta Verified and wonders whether it will help when her agency moves her to the API. It will not replace the API steps: for the API she still needs a business portfolio, business verification to raise her messaging limit, and an approved display name. The Official Business Account badge, if she ever wants it, is a separate application.
When it is worth considering
Consider Meta Verified if customers often confuse you with copycat accounts and you mostly chat from the Business app. If your WhatsApp work runs on the API, your first priorities are business verification, a clean opt-in process and a good quality rating. A badge of any kind does not lift sending limits or delivery.
Meta Verified and Broadchat
Broadchat is built on the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API) and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta. Meta Verified is bought and managed with Meta directly; there is no setting for it in a Broadchat panel and no partner can grant it. The WhatsApp Business app vs API comparison helps you decide which side of WhatsApp your business should be on first.

Frequently asked questions
Does Meta Verified give my API number a blue tick?
Meta has not published that Meta Verified changes the badge on a WhatsApp Business API number. The API badge comes from the Official Business Account programme, which has its own requirements and review.
How much does Meta Verified cost in India?
Meta sets the price inside its apps and it can change. We have not confirmed a current figure on an official Meta page, so check the offer in your own account rather than relying on prices quoted online.
Do I need Meta Verified to use the WhatsApp Business API?
No. The API needs a business portfolio, a WhatsApp Business account and a phone number. Business verification is strongly advised because it raises limits, but Meta Verified is optional.
